The Phoenix Coyotes added to their free agent haul Friday by signing forward Boyd Gordon to a multi-year contract.

The Coyotes already announced Friday they had signed goaltender Mike Smith and forward Raffi Torres to multi-year deals.

Gordon, 27, joins Phoenix after spending his entire seven-season career with the Washington Capitals, who selected him 17th overall in the 2002 draft.

The Saskatchewan native has posted 27 goals and 85 points in 363 career games -- including three scores and nine points in 60 contests last season.

"We are very pleased to sign Boyd to a multi-year contract," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney. "Boyd is an intelligent, veteran center who is an excellent face-off man and penalty killer. He is a strong addition to our team."

Gordon won 58 percent of his face-off draws in 2010-11, as well as 69 percent of his draws in nine postseason games.
