Toronto - The National Hockey League has suspended Phoenix Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall two games for a hit on Flyers defenseman Oskars Bartulis in Tuesday's win in Philadelphia.
The incident took place early in the second period at the side of the net when Upshall hit Bartulis, who then went shoulder and head-first into the end boards. The second-year blueliner left the game and did not return.
Upshall, who has recorded 16 goals and 11 assists in 60 games this year, will miss Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay and Friday's contest in Columbus. The two- game suspension will cost him slightly more than $24,000 in salary.
