GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Phoenix Coyotes inked free agent forward Eric Belanger to a one-year contract Tuesday.
Last season, the 32-year-old posted 15 goals and 41 points in 77 regular- season games with Minnesota and Washington. He was held to one assist in seven playoff games as the Caps were toppled by the Canadiens in a first-round upset.
"We are excited to have Eric join us here in Phoenix," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney. "He is a smart, quick, talented center who plays well on both sides of the puck. We had identified Eric early in the free agency period as someone who would be a great fit with us."
Since breaking into the NHL with Los Angeles during the 2000-01 season, the native of Quebec has tallied 121 goals with 299 points in 634 NHL games with the Kings, Hurricanes, Thrashers, Wild and Capitals.
