The identity of the mystery buyer of the Phoenix Coyotes has been revealed.
ESPN reported Wednesday that Chicago financier Matthew Hulsizer is in the final stages of negotiating a lease agreement with Glendale, Ariz., which, if reached, would lead to him making an offer to buy the Coyotes from the NHL.
Hulsizer is the CEO of PEAK6 Investments and a former college hockey player, who, according to the ESPN report, has deep pockets.
The NHL wants the situation in Arizona settled by Dec. 31. If that doesnít occur, itís believed the NHL will look at selling the franchise to Winnipegís True North Sports and Entertainment.
