GLENDALE, Ariz. - Coyotes training camp is open today but Wayne Gretzky is nowhere in sight.
When he shows up is, in the words of interim coach Ulf Samuelsson, "anybody's guess."
"We have been preparing for this for a while so we have no excuses going into camp."
"We're here, we're ready we have a game plan and (the proceedings) hasn't really affected hockey operations that much."
A team spokesman said Gretzky won't participate until his contractual situation is resolved.
That, of course, depends on the proceedings in Arizona bankruptcy court.
"His contractual position remains unclear!" The spokesman said.
"We had a Plan A and a Plan B going here for awhile," said Samuelsson.
"We certainly miss him but things have to play out in court with all the legal stuff," said Samuelsson. "Until we sort that out, we've really got to go forward a day at a time here."
