Hockey fans rally in Hamilton

HAMILTON -- Make It Seven, make it thousands.

Crazed hockey fans filled Jackson Square for a rally to make their message to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman perfectly clear.

"We want an NHL team and we want it now," said Chris Machinski, a Hamilton resident who was born in Toronto. "This is a huge market and 99% of us are hockey fans."

The latest attempt by businessman Jim Balsillie to bring hockey to southern Ontario was dealt a blow by a Phoenix bankruptcy judge earlier this week but there's no doubt Bettman is seen as the villain here.

Balsillie, who couldn't make the rally, sent a message via spokesman Bill Walker for the people to keep up the fight and send their message to the NHL head office in New York.

"Never understimate what you can do."

Do you think Coyotes players should be punished for their actions after the team’s Game 5 loss to the Kings?
