MONTREAL -- In a lawsuit tabled in Quebec Superior Court last Friday, Liberal MP Denis Coderre denounced once more what he calls racial slurs expressed toward four francophone hockey officials by Shane Doan in a game against the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 13, 2005.

Coderre gave the court a document in which linesman Michel Cormier claims the Phoenix Coyotes captain made racist comments toward himself and three other Quebec officials. Doan is also suing Coderre over the matter.

Cormier is steadfast in his version of events and his testimony includes a copy of a written official report made under oath and sent to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. Cormier gave the same version of events in a conference call a few days after the events with Doan and Colin Campbell, who is responsible for disciplinary matters in the NHL. And although Doan maintains his innocence, these new revelations are an embarrassment to the NHL.

In Cormier's affidavit, it has been learned that Ladislav Nagy, now with the Dallas Stars, also made racist slurs toward him during the game.
