The Philadelphia Flyers fired coach Peter Laviolette Monday morning after the club's 0-3 start to the season.
General manager Paul Holmgren said he hasn't liked the way the club looked going back to the first day of training camp.
In Saturday night's 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the Flyers were victimized on some poor play without the puck and some bad defensive zone coverage, the first area new coach Craig Berube said he will attack.
Some of the Flyers top players, like captain Claude Giroux, were pretty much invisible against the Habs.
Firing the coach has become the easier option for struggling teams, especially one like the Flyers which is always around the salary cap, since roster flexibility is greatly reduced in the cap era.
