Imagine an employer paying you $1.63 million US annually for the next 14 years NOT to work for them.

That is exactly what the Philadelphia Flyers are doing with Ilya Bryzgalov after announcing Tuesday that they will buy out the veteran goalie just two years after inking him to a nine-year, $51-million pact.

According to CapGeek.com, the $23-million buyout is the largest in NHL history. No wonder GM Paul Holmgren suggested it was the costliest mistake the Flyers have ever made.
