It appears Shea Weber has grown tired of waiting for the Nashville Predators to make a decision on his future.

The restricted free agent defenceman signed an offer sheet from the Philadelphia Flyers, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

"Shea Weber agrees to offer sheet with Philadelphia. 14 years, upwards of $100 mil," Dreger tweeted early Thursday morning. "Nashville was working on a trade and its believed several deadlines passed before Flyers grew tired of waiting."

The 26-year-old Predators captain will be 40 years old by the end of the contract.

The Predators have seven days to match the offer sheet.

Under the current collective bargaining agreement, if the Predators don't match they will receive four first-round draft picks from the Flyers as compensation. For offer sheets that exceed five years the average annual value when considering compensation is calculated by dividing the total value of the contract by five. The average annual value required to receive four first-rounders — the maximum compensation — this season is $8,410,976.

Nashville losing Weber would be the second huge blow suffered by the club this off-season. The Predators lost defenceman Ryan Suter — Weber's blueline partner — to free agency after he signed a 13-year, $98-million contract with the Minnesota Wild on July 4.

In 480 games over seven seasons with the Predators, Weber has 99 goals and 164 assists for 263 points.
