Rumours are heating up that the Philadelphia Flyers will trade centre Jeff Carter.

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that the Blue Jackets and Flyers have discussed a deal that would send Carter to Columbus for the eighth overall pick in this month's draft and a young forward, probably restricted free agent winger Jacob Voracek.

The Flyers could be looking to move Carter to clear some cap space so they can sign goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, who was acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes earlier this week. Bryzgalov will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Carter is signed through 2020-21 with an annual cap hit of $5.27 million. The former all-star had 36 goals and 30 assists in 80 games this season.
