THE SKINNY: Was acquired by the Flyers at the NHL trade deadline from the Coyotes in exchange for LW Josh Gratton and two second-round picks in 2006 draft ... Signed a three-year, $6.35-million US extension with the club Thursday. "When we acquired him, we obviously wanted to keep him," said Flyers GM Bob Clarke ... Has played 436 career NHL games over eight seasons. Started his career with the Flames. Was dealt to the Coyotes on Aug. 26, 2004, along with Oleg Saprykin in for Daymond Langkow.

NOTEWORTHY:

BUFFALO -- The Senators are 1-2-0 against the Flyers this season. Ottawa scored a 3-2 victory over Philly on Feb. 11 at Scotiabank Place. Antoine Vermette, Vaclav Varada and Dany Heatley scored for the Senators ... Expect to see G Antero Niittymaki make the start for the Flyers, while G Ray Emery will be back in the net for Ottawa for the 14th straight game ... The Flyers have won four of their last five games. The club is tied with the Rangers for No. 1 in the Atlantic Division after a 6-3 victory in New York on Wednesday ... Senators D Anton Volchenkov (concussion) didn't skate yesterday in Buffalo ... The Flyers have been pleased with the way C Petr Nedved has played in a defensive role with the loss of C Keith Primeau (concussion) for the season ... Philly C Michal Handzus scored his first goal since Jan. 23 on Wednesday.
