THE WEAK LINK: Tough night for big, bad (and getting worse) Derian Hatcher. First, the Flyers defenceman gets his stick caught in the boards during a battle behind the net with Chris Kelly, mere seconds before Antoine Vermette gives Ottawa a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Hatcher gets stripped of the puck by Chris Neil, who feeds to Vaclav Varada for the Senators' second goal. Throw in his two minor penalties and his minus-2 rating, and you have a strong case for Hatcher as the night's most overpaid player at 1/82nd of $3.5 million US.
THE DROUGHT CONTINUES: You know Daniel Alfredsson's in a slump when he doesn't finish a brilliant rush after a nice deke on Eric Desjardins and can't find the open cage after picking up a rebound off the end boards. Alfredsson did have four shots on goal, but was one of only three Senators on the sour side of the plus-minus ledger with a minus-1.
