The Philadelphia Flyers and the Atlanta Thrashers will play a National Hockey League preseason game at the John Labatt Centre on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

Two years ago, the Flyers beat the Washington Capitals 4-2 before a sold-out crowd of 9,168 people in London.

This marks the third straight season a professional sports team from Philadelphia played a preseason game at the JLC.

Last October, the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors played at the JLC with the 76ers winning 108-103 before 7,619 spectators.

The Flyers lineup will likely have London's Jeff Carter and several of their recent signings, including Derien Hatcher, Mike Rathje and former Kitchener Ranger Mike Richards. Atlanta has big names in Dany Heatley and Ilya Kovalchuk in its lineup.

Tickets are now on sale.
