Bryan Murray is fighting cancer?

Poor cancer.

The 71-year-old Senators GM — a tough-as-nails Shawville, Que. native who is also one of the best men you’ll find in hockey — is being treated for the disease, the team announced Monday.

While no information was given as to what type of cancer Murray is battling, the treatment or the prognosis, news of his illness didn’t come as a total surprise to anyone who has noticed his weight loss in recent weeks.

It also won’t come as a surprise when Murray gives cancer a severe beating.

“Mr. Murray is undergoing further testing and will begin treatment immediately for this condition as prescribed by the team’s doctors in collaboration with specialists,” read the Senators release.
