The cruel reality is finally setting in for the Senators.

Trying to make one last gasp push for a playoff spot, the Senators chances took a massive blow Wednesday night as the club dropped an ugly 2-1 decision to the New York Islanders.

The 16,516 on hand at the Canadian Tire Centre saw the club’s three-game winning streak coming to an end as the undermanned Isles left the Senators sitting five points back of a playoff spot.
