OTTAWA - Bobby Ryan declared he was coming in hot the day he was acquired by the Senators last summer.

His season ended with him cold and injured.

The Senators confirmed the high-scoring winger will miss the clubs final 10 games after he had surgery in Montreal Thursday to repair a sports hernia that he has hampered with since November.

Though Ryans recovery time is four-to-six weeks depending on the severity, the Senators only 16 days left in their season, but hell be ready to go next September in training camp.

Sources say Ryan made the decision to play through the injury after sitting down with the club's staff in late-November. He is not the first player to have this injury and play with it.
