OTTAWA - The remarkable comeback fell short.

Trailing 3-0 to the Nashville Predators with only 12 minutes left in the third, the Senators erased the deficit but then suffered a difficult 4-3 OT loss in front of 19.063 at Canadian Tire Centre.

Seth Jones, alone in front, beat Senators goalie Robin Lehner with a wrister at 3:49 of the extra period to allow the Senators only to skate away with one point after they didnt bother to show up for the third period against Pekka Rinne and the Predators.

With the Senators pressing to get back into it during a frantic third, Spezza, parked on the doorstep, tied it up with 1:07 left in the third to send this one to OT and ensure the club a point.

It was too little, too late. It did help the club save face.

Up until then, the Senators looked like they didnt have any chance. Goalie Craig Anderson left with a injury after accidently colliding with Milan Michalek and it didnt like anything was right.
