The Senators got a favour from the New York Rangers Sunday.

If coach Paul MacLean was doing any scoreboard watching while celebrating his 56th birthday he may send his buddy Mike Babcock a thank you loss for the Detroit Red Wings 3-0 loss to New York.

The Senators closed the gap by moving four points behind the Wings for the final wildcard spot in the East with a 5-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday at the MTS Centre.
