In hockey, there is such a thing as a good penalty.

The infractions that prevent a scoring chance, set a physical tone, or even settle an old score are often the easiest ones for a team to kill.

Then, there are the bad penalties — or equally bad calls — that have boos raining down from the rafters on the officiating crew.

The Senators this season have seen their fair share of the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly.
