TORONTO - Scoring 20 goals in a season is a big deal to some.

To Bobby Ryan, it is not. Nor should it be.

“I think you have figures in your head every year (and) I guess to get it, and to get it in a win, is important,” Ryan said with a shrug Thursday after notching his 20th, Ottawa’s fifth of the night, in the two-goal victory.

But what does that plateau really mean to you, Bobby?

“Not a whole lot, truthfully,” he admitted. “More so is just the fact that you take a little pressure off yourself and you’re not thinking about it every minute of the next day and a half before we do this all over again.”

Don't misunderstand. Ryan lives to score goals. But he’s reached the 20 mark every time he’s been allowed to participate in a full NHL schedule. No wonder it’s passé.
