OTTAWA - Big Ben Bishop rang the Senators’ bell Thursday night.

The effort wasn’t totally pointless.

Three times the Senators erased the lead, but couldn’t win in the skills competition as the Nikita Kucharov scored the winner to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 shootout victory Thursday night at the Times Forum as the former Ottawa goalie halted all three shooters.

The Senators still got an important point to keep pace in the East playoff race.

With the Bolts holding onto a one-goal lead in the third, Chris Neil tied it up late to send it to OT by beating Bishop. Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson both had two-point efforts while Clarke MacArthur also scored.

Bishop was solid with 33 stops.
