OTTAWA - While others were celebrating Hockey Day in Canada, the Senators were left to deal with an opportunity lost.

A victory would have vaulted them back into a playoff spot for the first time since Nov. 9 but the Senators kicked off CBCís annual celebration of the game with a 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers Saturday at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Mats Zuccarello, Derek Stepan, Rick Nash and Brad Richards scored for the Rangers while backup Cam Talbot secured the victory.

Only Marc Methot was able to score for the Senators while Craig Anderson suffered his second straight loss in the net.
