OTTAWA - Mark Stone was just about to call it a night when he got the telephone call that made his day.

The Senators winger was headed for bed to prepare for Binghamton’s New Year’s Eve visit by the Norfolk Admirals when he received word from coach Luke Richardson to pack his bags to head for Ottawa.

As the Senators took the ice Tuesday at the Bell Sensplex, Stone was skating on a line with Zack Smith and Colin Greening after Chris Neil suffered what the Ottawa Sun has reported is leg muscle injury that will likely keep him out at least a week.

“I was getting ready to go bed, getting ready for the game in Binghamton and I got the call. I was pretty excited,” said Stone, who made the four-hour drive Tuesday morning.

“That’s been my goal since I got drafted is to play in the NHL.

"I’m here and I’m going to hope that I can make a good impression.”
