OTTAWA - A night about redemption for the Senators ended in further humiliation.

GM Bryan Murray yelled, coach Paul MacLean pointed fingers and the players vowed to be better but the Senators suffered the same old result in a 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers Thursday night .

With only 15,927 on hand at the Canadian Tire Centre, Florida's Tom Gilbert fired it by Craig Anderson for the winner on the power play and Tomes Kopecky put it away shorthanded as Ottawa suffered its 10th loss at home this season.

While Jason Spezza and Chris Neil scored for the Senators in the first, that's where the offence stopped as the Panthers erased the 2-1 deficit to get the win in the third.

Kopecky scored with 1:41 left to secure the two points with Ottawa on the power play while Gilbert's second point of the night came at 17:28 with J.G. Pageaut in the box to break a 2-2 tie.
