SHORT HILLS, N.J. - Give Cody Ceci credit. He listens to every word and does what he's told with the instructions.

No, Chris Phillip wasn't trying to take any credit for the kid's OT winner in a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues Monday at home, but the veteran defenceman does deserve some props.

Ceci is the first player in franchise history to have his first NHL goal come in overtime and it was Phillips who passed along a few prophetic words just before the puck was dropped to start the extra session.

"It was a great," said Phillips with a smile before the club's one hour flight here. "I told him before the overtime, 'You might as well go be the hero tonight' and he went and did it.

"If he's going to listen like that all the time it's going to be an easy game. For him to go and do it in overtime. You couldn't have scripted it any better."
