SUNRISE, FLA. - Admitting he's not much for magic, Paul MacLean did play his own version of the shell game Monday.

When he finally stopped shuffling all the peas, the Senators were left with a completely revamped set of line combinations and, they hope, a start in the right direction.

They better start heading that way soon, of course, because as they boarded their charter for a two-game road trip to Florida, the Senators were a full seven points from the last wildcard playoff spot in the Eastern Conference -- a fact of which MacLean needed no reminding.

"It's pretty easy to know where you are, everyone's aware of where they are all the time," he said.
