OTTAWA - New blood will meet bad blood Thursday night.

While the Senators and Montreal Canadiens both have new faces this season, a rivalry will be renewed at the Canadian Tire as the two-first round combatants meet for the first time since their ugly, sometimes bloody war last spring.

Defenceman Erik Karlsson felt the Senators five-game series victory brought the intensity of the rivalry to a new level and wouldn't mind picking up where the club left off last spring against the Habs -- with a victory.

"Playoffs are the time of the year when everybody really, really wants to win," said Karlsson. "We got the chance to play Montreal last year and it was a tough battle. Definitely, I think it sparked some different things.

"That's the way the game should be played. It was a fair series and hopefully we can keep beating them."
