OTTAWA - Erik Karlsson already has plans in Detroit on Tuesday night.

The Senators’ top defenceman will be getting together with former captain Daniel Alfredsson and his family the night before he faces his old pal for the first time since Alfie signed with the Red Wings in the off-season.

After living with the Alfredsson family during his rookie season, Karlsson has kept in touch with them regularly since Alfie left for Detroit in late-August, and they remain close friends despite the distance.

“I’ll be over (to his house) to see the family. It’s been awhile,” said Karlsson on Monday. “Hopefully, we get in (to Detroit) at a decent time. The (four) kids will be awake, we’ll have a good night and share a few stories.”

Karlsson admits life with the Senators isn’t the same without having Alfredsson around.
