SAN JOSE - Jason Spezza looked good Friday.
The better news is he skated without pain for the fourth straight day.
All signs point to his return to the Senators lineup Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center, but he and coach Paul MacLean were both being cautious in giving a final thumbs up after a 45-minute skate.
After sitting Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings to give his sore groin a rest, the Senators captain didn't want to be presumptuous and declare he was ready to play.
"I felt good. I'd imagine I'll be in the lineup," said Spezza following a skate at Sharks' Ice East. "At this point I've had four days of pain free so I don't know what a couple of more days (of rest) would do for it.
"I skated (Friday) and I didn't feel sore at all. I'm hoping that's end of it. I'll talk (Saturday) with (MacLean). I don't want to say that I'm playing and have him say different."
