OTTAWA - Mika Zibanejad will start the season on the farm.

The Senators’ top pick in 2011 was sent to the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton Monday as Ottawa cut to its final roster of 22 players, the Ottawa Sun has learned.

Zibanejad was unseeded by Stephane Da Costa in training camp. He is in a tough spot because he doesn’t require waivers to be sent down. This was a move that certainly nobody saw coming at the start of camp.

The Senators were hopeful at the start of camp that Da Costa would be able to either play in the middle or on the right side of Clarke MacArthur and Kyle Turris on the second line.
