The No. 11 jersey won't be hanging from the rafters at the Canadian Tire Centre next season.

Instead, Daniel Alfredsson will be back on the ice.

Senators general manager Bryan Murray told reporters Tuesday morning he expects to have an answer on Alfredsson's future by the end of the week. As QMI Agency has been reporting, the club fully expects him to return next season as a player.

While the two sides still have to work out the details of a contract -- Alfredsson is set to become a UFA on July 5 -- Murray said in a pre-draft availability with the Ottawa media he fully expects the 40-year-old won't retire.
