OTTAWA - If this was a first-round preview, the Senators served notice they're not going to playoff pushovers.

The Senators extended their winning streak to four straight games and threw cold water on the sizzling Washington Capitals in the process by halting their eight-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory Thursday night at Scotiabank Place.

Kyle Turris scored twice -- including an empty-netter -- and Cory Conacher also chipped in as the Senators took a giant step toward clinching a playoff spot by moving only one point behind the No. 4-ranked Toronto Maple Leafs in the East.
