TAMPA — Like many visitors from Canada, the Senators got burned in Florida.
On the heels of an embarrassing loss to the Panthers, they left the Sunshine State completely red-faced after a 3-2 loss to the Lightning at the Tampa Bay Times Forum Tuesday.
Neither the Panthers or Lightning are making the playoffs this season, and at the rate they are falling, neither will the Senators.
The loss was a season-high fifth in a row and the fourth consecutive on what has turned into the road trip from hell.
“We haven’t won a game in what seems like forever,” Senators coach Paul MacLean said. “It’s getting hard, the league is hard and winning is hard to do. We haven’t played hard enough in the last five games to produce more than what we say (are) good opportunities. We need to do more, not a whole lot more, but we need to do a little bit more.”
