OTTAWA - As the NHL trade deadline fast approaches, the number of non-media types occupying seats in the Scotiabank Place press box is about to grow.
When the New York Rangers (Thursday) and Toronto Maple Leafs (Saturday) come to town for the last two home games before the April 3 D-Day, there will be more scouts and/or management people from other teams than at any other time this season.
Why? Is Ottawa GM Bryan Murray going to make any major moves to bolster his surging, surprising squad? Maybe, and maybe not. But what's certain is he'll never refuse a call, and it's always possible Murray could get an offer too good to turn down.
Particularly enticing should be his group of goalies. Craig Anderson finally is making progress in his recovery from an ankle injury while Ben Bishop and Robin Lehner continue to improve their already-high stock.
