BUFFALO - Lately, it's been too close for comfort for the Senators and their faithful.
As the Senators prepare for games vs. the Sabres Saturday in Buffalo and the Winnipeg Jets Sunday at Scotiabank Place, Ottawa players wouldn't mind if the margins weren't so slim after playing in 10 straight games decided by one goal.
The Senators have been fortunate they've been able to pick up points in eight of those games (4-2-4 record), but it'd be nice to be able to breathe a little bit easier by getting ahead on the scoreboard and costing to victory.
Two more games decided by one goal vs. the Sabres and Jets and the Senators will tie an NHL record set by the 1997-98 Chicago Blackhawks for the most in a row.
Captain Daniel Alfredsson even joked "losing one by a couple of goals," may not hurt. Yes, he was kidding. In fact, 11 of the club's last 12 games have been decided by one goal.
