OTTAWA - It was by pure accident Chris Neil improved the Senators chances of winning Monday’s game in the first minute of the second period.

That’s when he collided with Boston’s Chris Kelly in the neutral zone, leaving his good friend in a heap with an obvious left knee injury.

Neil and Kelly played together with the Senators for years. During the lockout, just a few months ago, they were among the small group that shared the Sensplex ice. By no means would Neil want to hurt Kelly, and not even the most ardent Senators supporter would take delight in watching this Bruin — one of the NHL’s true good guys — being helped off the ice.
