Ottawa Senators lose third straight against New York Islanders

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - The Senators shootout run has ended.

John Tavares scored with a spectacular, highlight reel goal to send Ottawa home with a 3-2 shootout loss in Long Island Sunday.

Frans Nielson also beat Robin Lehner on the tie breaking skills contest, while Jakob Silfverberg and Daniel Alfredsson were stopped by Evgeni Nabokov.

The Senators lost the previous two games on this now concluded three-in-four day road trip by scores of 2-1 to Boston and Philadelphia, giving them just one of a possible six points.
