Ejected Alfie sends message to Rinaldo after dirty hit on Chris Phillips

PHILADELPHIA - There was no regret expressed from either captain or his coach for the cross-check to the face Daniel Alfredsson delivered Zac Rinaldo Saturday -- even though it ate up five precious minutes of time as the Senators were trying to erase a one-goal deficit against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Alfredsson felt it necessary to respond immediately to a dirty hit Rinaldo placed on Chris Phillips with under eight minutes to go in the third period.

"It's a bad play by him, I think," Alfredsson said. "Phillips is in a vulnerable position, right by the boards, and he hits him from the side, behind kind of. I didn't know if Chris was really injured at the time or not, but I did not like that hit at all."

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
