PITTSBURGH Losing Milan Michalek to a mysterious lower body injury in the pre-game warmup was a rough way for the Senators to start their night in City of Bridges.

Little did they know things would get much, much worse.

During the second period of a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday night, irreplaceable defenceman Erik Karlsson suffered a lacerated Achilles that will require surgery. The Senators went on to lose 4-2 at the Consol Energy Center.

The Senators are furious over how the Karlsson injury happened.
