Talk around town for the next few days will centre on Erik Karlsson ... and the devastating lacerated Achilles tendon injury which will sideline him indefinitely.

And by indefinitely, we could mean a long time.

The best player on the Senators and possibly the best player in the league, Karlsson, was cut by Pittsburgh Penguins winger Matt Cooke’s skate in a collision along the boards late in the second period.

Cooke, with a reputation for cheap shots, says it was unintentional. Plenty of people will disagree and say there was some malice and mischief in the action where his skate connects with Karlsson.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
