PITTSBURGH — Losing Milan Michalek to a mysterious lower body injury in the pre-game warmup was a rough way for the Senators to start their night in City of Bridges.

Little did they know things would get much, much worse.

During the second period of a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday night, irreplaceable defenceman Erik Karlsson suffered a lacerated Achilles that will require surgery. The Senators went on to lose 4-2 at the Consol Energy Center.

The Senators are furious over how the Karlsson injury happened.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
