OTTAWA - If the biblical figure Samson indeed drew strength from his hair, perhaps Erik Karlsson does, too.

But in Karlsson's case, it could be the hair over his upper lip.

"Maybe there is," the Senators star said with a mischievous chuckle when asked about the power of his moustache Wednesday. "And maybe there's not."

Karlsson says he first grew his 'stache about a year ago. Since last February, he has won the Norris Trophy, signed a multi-million dollar contract, married longtime girlfriend Therese, had a strong run in Finland's elite league and an exceptional start to the 2012-13 NHL season.

Given his success, perhaps the entire Senators team should treat every month like it's Mo-vember.

"It's the only thing I can grow," said the slender, otherwise fresh-faced Karlsson. "I don't have much else. (Therese) is starting to like it more. She wasn't a big fan at the start. But I think she likes it now."
