Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson not setting retirement timeline

WINNIPEG -- Daniel Alfredsson isn't ready to call this a farewell tour.

The NHL's longest-serving captain will open his 17th season Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre, but he hasn't decided if this indeed is going to be his last season opener in a Senators uniform.

Alfredsson, 40, in the twilight of a historic career and put a lot of thought into retirement last summer. However, this year he has decided to put any future plans out of his mind and just enjoy the shortened 48-game season.
