OTTAWA - Cody Ceci’s days as a Senator have taken a big step forward.

And he couldn’t be happier.

GM Bryan Murray announced Thursday that the Senators have signed the 18-year-old 67’s defenceman to a three-year entry-level contract.

“It’s every kid’s dream to play in the NHL,” said Ceci, an Orléans native. “The first step was getting drafted, the next step was to sign the contract and now I just have to worry about making the team.

“It’s pretty cool. I’m anxious (to get into camp).”

Ceci was the Senators’ first-round pick (15th overall) in June’s NHL draft.

Ceci has spent the last three seasons with the 67’s, scoring 17 goals and adding 43 assists in 64 games last season.

In 196 career games with the 67’s, he has 106 points (30 goals, 76 assists).

The 6-ft-2, 206-lb. Ceci played two games in the Canada-Russia Challenge earlier this month. Ceci also participated in his first Senators development camp earlier this summer.
