Senators, Daugavins avoid arbitration
By BRUCE GARRIOCH, QMI Agency
OTTAWA - The Senators won’t be going to arbitration with Kaspars Daugavins. The Sun has confirmed the restricted free agent winger agreed to a one-year, one-way deal worth $635,000 for next season on Monday morning. Daugavins and the Senators were scheduled to be in Toronto on Tuesday for an arbitration hearing, which now won’t be needed. While the Senators had been steadfast in their demands not to give Daugavins a contract without a minor-league clause, he would have likely been awarded a one-way contract by an arbitrator. Daugavins, 24, had 5-6-11 points in 65 games last season and suited up for only one game against the New York Rangers in the playoffs. |
