Senators add Vancouver-born defenceman

The Senators added some organizational depth Tuesday, signing defenceman Tyler Eckford to a two-year. two-way contract.

The 26-year-old spent last season with the Portland Pirates, the AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes. Eckford recorded a career-high 10 goals along with 15 assists and 37 penalty minutes in 75 games.

A Vancouver native, Eckford has played in 245 career AHL games and seven NHL games with the New Jersey Devils, who drafted him in the seventh round in 2004.
