NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan decided Sunday not to suspend or fine Ottawa Senators forward Kyle Turris for a hit on Boston Bruins defenceman Joe Corvo a night earlier.
Turris was given a minor penalty for boarding on the third-period hit. After a phone hearing Sunday afternoon, Shanahan opted to leave it at that.
"After reviewing the video extensively as we heard Turris' explanation of how the play developed, we concluded that the head was not targeted intentionally or even recklessly and that the circumstances surrounding the hit contributed significantly to the amount of head contact that resulted," Shanahan said.
In 167 career NHL games, Turris has never been suspended.
