Sens GM says goalie could be back sooner rather than later

OTTAWA - Craig Anderson's injury may not cut as deep as the Senators originally thought.
While the prognosis for his return was not good after the Senators goalie severed a tendon in his small finger Wednesday and had surgery Thursday, GM Bryan Murray told reporters Friday his injury may not be long-term.
“We were told (Thursday) it was going to be some period of time. (Friday) we got a little better news. As soon as he feels comfortably he can handle a stick, he’ll be back on the ice, probably as early as next week,” said Murray.
“When he can handle a stick, he can probably get ready to play. There’s no time frame. We’re optimistic that it won’t be a long, long time.”
Sources told the Sun the Senators were originally told under a worst-case scenario, Anderson could be out 6-to-8 weeks.
Since the cut is on his blocker hand, it might be easier for him to play.
Robin Lehner has been recalled from Binghamton and was on the ice Friday morning.
