TORONTO - The Senators' wait for Peter Regin appears to be over.
"It looks like Peter is out for the season," GM Bryan Murray said in Toronto Wednesday morning. "He hasn't had surgery, but it looks like that's what is happening here."
Regin, who was projected to be a top-six forward with the Senators this season, has missed 38 games since he suffered a left shoulder injury. He missed 55 games last season after having surgery on the same shoulder.
The acquistion of Kyle Turris, who has 11 points in 15 games as a Senator and scored the winner Tuesday in Toronto, has filled the hole left by Regin.
Murray said the club will look to add more via the trade route -- likely someone who can add some offence -- if the Senators remain in position for a playoff spot.
The win over Toronto left the Senators fifth in the Eastern Conference, just four points back of the first place New York Rangers, heading into Wednesday's action.
